The New Macbook Air Ultrathin Notebooks Price and Release Date:Apple has launched the next generation MacBook Air ultrathin notebooks. The new MacBook Air will be available in two screen sizes - one sporting an 11.6 inch display and the other sporting a 13.3 inch display. Both models have Intel Core 2 processors,unibody aluminum enclosures and solid state disks for storage.
The new MacBook Air starts at $999. It measures only 0.11 inches at its thinnest part and 0.68 inches at its thickest. While the 11.6 inch model weighs 2.3 pounds, the 13.3 inch model weighs 2.9 pounds. They will reportedly also feature iPad's instant-on capabilities and amazing battery standby time.
The 13.3 inch MacBook Air has a 1440 x 900 pixels display, a webcam and a full sized keyboard. It is available with your choice of a 1.83GHz or 2.13GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor and 128GB to 256GB of storage. The graphics option on both models is the NVIDIA 320M chip. It will reportedly get 7 hours of battery life and up to 30 days of battery standby time.
The 11.6 inch model has a 1366 x 768 pixels display. Like the larger model it has a 2USB ports, but it lacks the SD card slot found in the larger one. It is available with a 1.4GHz or 1.6GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor and a choice of 64GB or 128GB. This model is expected to get 5 hours of battery life. Both models come with 2GB to 4GB of DDR3 memory.
Pricing and availability
Both models are now available for purchase from Apple’s online store. While the 11.6 inch MacBook Air with 64GB of storage starts at $999, the 13.3inch model with 128GB of storage has a starting price of $1299.
