This is Alex McLeish’s 80th Premier League game in charge; of the previous 79 he has won 21 and lost 29.
Birmingham are still without Alex Hleb and James McFadden but Newcastle will be boosted by the return, from suspension, of defensive pair Mike Williamson and Fabricio Coloccini.
But they still miss Ryan Taylor, Hatem Ben Arfa and Dan Gosling.
