The Blues have shrugged off doubts after a poor pre-season campaign in a perfect fashion by slamming home 12 goals in their opening two games. Manager Carlo Ancelotti expressed his delight at his side’s performances and claimed that they were playing “PlayStation” football after seeing them demolish West Brom and Wigan Athletic in their opening two games.
However the Chelsea coach will be aware that Stoke City will provide a stiffer test for his side and will be keen to avoid any complacency setting in among his players. Ancelotti will be looking to maintain his side’s superiority over the Potters having beaten them in all of the three meetings between the two sides last season including a 7-0 victory in this fixture last season.
Meanwhile Stoke manager Tony Pulis will be feeling unlucky not to have seen his side open their account in the new campaign. Following a narrow 2-1 defeat to Wolves in their opening match, Stoke looked to have secured a well deserved draw against Tottenham last weekend after debutant Jon Walters’ shot went over the line only for referee Chris Foy to wave play on and leave Stoke with another defeat.
