The Blues have had an inconsistent season at best, but will be buoyed by new additions including Rangers striker Kenny Miller. While the clubs have agreed a fee for the player, it is not clear if he can make a move in time for this game. Manager Alex McLeish is also in the market for Blackpool’s Charlie Adam and Tottenham’s Robbie Keane. The Blues are currently on the 15th spot on the league table with 22 points from 20 games played so far.
Meanwhile Aston Villa boss Gerard Houllier is under immense pressure after his side slipped into the drop zone last fortnight. Houllier is looking to seal a deal for Jean Makoun, but the asking price from Lyon may put him off. Curtis Davies continues to be sidelined and John Carew is a target for West Brom in January. Houllier has hinted that he might let the Norwegian striker leave the club this month.
