After losing out in the League Cup final last weekend Arsenal will look to bounce back against Sunderland at the Emirates and put another three points on the board in the Premier League. You could forgive Arsenal for feeling a little flat after that defeat last weekend but they will have to gear themselves up as Sunderland don’t make things easy for any side.
It is well worth noting however that Arsenal hammered Leyton Orient 5-0 in midweek at the Emirates and if Sunderland come up against Arsenal in an equally ruthless mood here then they could be in trouble.
At present Arsenal are four points behind Man Utd at the top of the table but have played a game less. A win against Sunderland here is vital if they are to keep the pressure on United and remain within the hunt for the title. Arsene Wenger will be drumming that into his players before the game so i expect to see an Arsenal team in their full attacking glory here.
Both sides have their injury worries for this tie but it may be Sunderland who are feeling the strain a little more. Despite missing numerous key players Arsenal have a far greater strength in depth than Sunderland do so they will still have a strong line-up to field. As for Sunderland their recent results have suffered as a result of their injury woes and have lost their last four Premier League matches.
Cesc Fabregas and Alex Song are missing for Arsenal as is Robin van Persie. This could mean that Aaron Ramsey will make his first appearance of the season against Sunderland after regaining match sharpness while on loan at Cardiff.
